The A-Star 32U4 Robot Controller SV w/ Raspberry Pi Bridge (SMT Components Only) is a versatile programmable module designed to serve as the central control unit for small robotic systems. It can function as an auxiliary controller when mounted on a Raspberry Pi or operate independently as a complete control solution. The module is powered by the ATmega32U4 AVR microcontroller, which is preloaded with an Arduino-compatible bootloader, facilitating ease of programming and integration.

This controller features dual motor drivers capable of delivering continuous current of 1.7 A per channel, making it suitable for driving small motors in robotic applications. It includes an efficient voltage regulator that supports a wide input voltage range from 5 V to 36 V, ensuring compatibility with various power sources. The board is designed to conform to the Raspberry Pi HAT specification, allowing seamless integration with Raspberry Pi models featuring a 40-pin GPIO header.

The A-Star 32U4 Robot Controller is equipped with level shifters to facilitate communication between the controller and a Raspberry Pi, enabling tasks such as reading analog sensors and controlling timing-sensitive devices. It also provides 5 V power to an attached Raspberry Pi, ensuring efficient power management. The module’s design allows for customized assembly or standalone use, as it does not include through-hole components or connectors.

Note: Batteries can have much higher voltages than their nominal voltages when fully charged, so be careful with nominal voltages above 24 V. A 36 V battery is not appropriate for this product.
