The Disco Marty The Robot V2 offers an enhanced educational experience in robotics and coding, designed to be both enjoyable and engaging. In this Disco edition, the robot introduces students to the fascinating world of LEDs, adding a vibrant touch to their learning experience. The LEDs are strategically placed on the eyes, arms, and feet, allowing students to transform Marty’s eyes into disco balls, add flair to its dance moves, and turn its arms into multi-colored glowsticks. This feature not only enhances the visual appeal but also serves as an educational tool for understanding the applications of LEDs and light.
The Disco Marty retains all the engaging functionalities of the original Marty V2. It boasts unique movements such as walking, dancing, turning, side-stepping, and kicking, thanks to its distinctive leg design that imparts a unique swagger. The robot is equipped with a variety of interactive sensors, including position, tilt, proximity, and force sensors, along with a built-in speaker. These features enable Marty to talk, play sounds, ‘feel,’ and even shake hands, providing a rich interactive experience.
Marty is designed to accommodate coding for all abilities. It can be programmed using MartyBlocks Jr, MartyBlocks, Python, and even at a professional level with a Raspberry Pi and the ROS (Robot Operating System). With the addition of a camera, Marty can autonomously play football, showcasing its advanced capabilities. The robot is also highly expandable and customizable, allowing users to add extra sensors, a camera, a Raspberry Pi or micro:bit, or even 3D print custom parts to enhance its functionality.
