The Phidgets NEMA17 – 1.8 Degree – 1.68A Stepper – 5.18:1 Gearbox is a sophisticated bipolar stepper motor designed for precision and efficiency. It features a planetary gearbox with a reduction ratio of 5.18:1, which allows for a refined step angle of approximately 0.35 degrees at the gearbox output. This motor is capable of delivering a maximum torque of 18.6 kg-cm at 1.7 Amps, although the gearbox is rated for continuous torque of 18 kg-cm, ensuring optimal performance at lower speeds.

The motor’s rear shaft is exposed, providing the flexibility to mount additional components such as an encoder or shaft coupler, enhancing its adaptability for various applications. The integration of the planetary gearbox with the NEMA-17 motor ensures a compact and efficient design, suitable for precise motion control tasks.

Note: Connecting the motor directly to a power supply will destroy the motor and void the warranty. It must be used with a constant current / chopper drive controller such as a Phidget stepper controller.
