The Sherline 3C Collet Spindle Headstock C3 Bearing w/ Motor Control is a versatile and durable component designed to accommodate larger diameter stock, up to 1/2 inch, through its headstock. This headstock is interchangeable with standard Sherline headstocks, maintaining the same centerline height and mounting system, which allows for seamless transitions between different headstock models. The spindle is electroless nickel plated, enhancing its resistance to rust and increasing surface hardness for extended durability. It includes a spindle pulley and a precision ground head key, providing a robust and reliable setup for various machining tasks.

For those who wish to use a chuck with this headstock, a 3C to ¾-16 chuck arbor is available for purchase separately. This allows compatibility with all Sherline 3- and 4-jaw chucks that have a ¾-16 thread. While Sherline does not manufacture 3C collets, users have the flexibility to choose from reputable manufacturers like Hardinge, ensuring they can select collets that meet their specific needs.

The headstock is equipped with a DC motor and speed control, offering a two-speed pulley system with a wide RPM range. The motor is a brush-type permanent magnet motor, designed for continuous duty with a totally enclosed, non-vented enclosure. It provides reliable performance with a continuous speed of up to 6,100 RPM, making it suitable for driving units in lathes or mills.
