The Waveshare RM500U-CNV 5G HAT for Raspberry Pi, Quad Antenna LTE-A, Multi Band, 5G/4G/3G (Case, US) is a sophisticated module designed to enhance networking capabilities by supporting 5G, 4G, and 3G connections. It is engineered to integrate seamlessly with various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Android, through its multi-driver and software support. The module is equipped with a USB 3.1 port, which is backward compatible with USB 2.0, facilitating high-speed 5G communication. Additionally, it features a standard M.2 B KEY slot, compatible with a range of 5G modules, ensuring versatility in application.

This HAT is designed with onboard UART, PWR, and RST control pins, and includes a built-in voltage level translator. It also features a USB-C connector for a standalone power supply, ensuring stable and flexible power management. The module is equipped with a power supply on/off switch, a reset button, an LED indicator, and dual SIM card slots with single standby, which can be switched via AT command. The power supply circuit is highly efficient, supporting up to 3A output current.

The module supports both 5G NSA and SA networking, as well as 4G/3G internet, making it easy to use with multi-system support. It requires only a USB connection and simple configuration to access high-speed 5G networks. Compatible with Raspberry Pi series and Jetson Nano, the HAT features a stackable design for additional HATs and includes a high-speed cooling fan for effective heat dissipation.

Although the RM500U-CNV module does not support GNSS, the HAT includes a standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO header and offers various connection examples for different Raspberry Pi models and Jetson Nano. It provides multiple installation methods, making it suitable for diverse industrial applications, such as functioning as a 5G wireless router or facilitating live streaming with an additional camera.
