The Waveshare RM500U-CNV 5G HAT for Raspberry Pi, Quad Antennas LTE-A, Multi Band, 5G/4G/3G (US) is a versatile module designed to enhance connectivity for Raspberry Pi and other compatible devices. It supports multiple network protocols, including 5G, 4G, and 3G, and is compatible with various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Android. This HAT integrates a USB 3.1 port, which is also compatible with USB 2.0, allowing for high-speed 5G communication when connected to a PC, Raspberry Pi, or Jetson Nano host board.
The module features a standard M.2 B KEY slot, making it compatible with different 5G modules, including the RM500U-CNV series. It includes onboard UART, PWR, and RST control pins, as well as a built-in voltage level translator, which can be enabled via a DIP switch for use with hosts like Raspberry Pi or Arduino. Additionally, it has an onboard USB-C connector for a standalone power supply, providing a stable and flexible power source.
The HAT is equipped with a power supply on/off switch, a reset button, and an LED indicator to easily manage the module’s operation and monitor its status. It also includes dual SIM card slots with single standby capability, switchable via AT command, and a high-efficiency power supply circuit capable of delivering up to 3A output current. The module supports 5G NSA and SA networking, offering seamless integration into various systems.
For enhanced functionality, the HAT supports multi-constellation high-precision GNSS, including GPS, Beidou, Glonass, and Galileo, although GNSS is not available for the RM500U-CNV module. It features a standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO header, ensuring compatibility with Raspberry Pi series and Jetson Nano, and a stackable design for additional HATs. A high-speed cooling fan is included for effective heat dissipation, and an optional case with multiple installation methods is available for diverse applications such as industrial use. Application examples include 5G wireless routers and 5G live streaming.
