Marvelmind Outdoor Beacon Mini-RX-IP67 (915MHz)
$176.68
Description
- Navigation Positioning Mobile DSP Beacon
- Offers 915 MHz only
- Includes IMU & Outdoor Case
- Protects its ultrasonic microphone with a special IP67 membrane
- Is fully covered by a water- dust-protecting compound
- Note: The new Industrial Beacons support only +5V power supply
The Indoor Navigation Positioning Mobile DSP Beacon w/ IMU & Outdoor Case (915MHz) features the Marvelmind Indoor Navigation System designed to provide precise (±2cm) location data to autonomous robots, vehicles (AGV), drones and forklifts. It can also be used to track other objects that the mobile beacon is installed upon, for example, virtual reality (VR) systems, helmets for construction workers or miners, jackets, etc.
The ultrasonic microphone is protected with a special IP67 membrane. All internal compartment (electronics, battery) is fully covered by a water- dust-protecting compound. The USB connector is not protected. Thus, it is recommended to install the beacon so that the USB is at the bottom – to minimize the impact on the connector itself because electronics and battery are fully sealed.
Note, the beacon has not received a formal IP67 certification, yet. The IP67 requirements are fulfilled by design and are verified by the water submerging test: placing for 30 min under 1m of water doesn’t kill the device.
Size
- 47 x 42 x 15 mm
Distance between beacons
- Reach up to 50 meters in lab conditions
- Recommended distance is 30 meters (Transducer4 of Beacon HW v4.9 looking straight at Beacon DSP HW v5.xx)
- Range of stable tracking of DSP beacon + Beacon HW v4.9 is 20-50% bigger, than the range of Beacon HW v4.9 + Beacon HW v4.9 in the same conditions
Coverage area
- Reach up to 1,000 m2 with the Starter Set configurations
- Coverage for larger territories is similar to cellular networks
Location precision
- Absolute: 1–3% of the distance to the beacons
- Differential precision: ±2 cm
- Differential precision is on par or better than in the Beacon HW v4.9, partially, because the sensor is a point – not as spread sensors of HW v4.9; and, partially, because of higher processing power and more advanced algorithms of the DSP beacon
Location update rate
- 0.05–25 Hz
- Can be set manually or in automatic mode
- Depends on the distance between the mobile and stationary beacons (shorter distance — higher update rate)
- Depends on the number of mobile beacons: for example, update rate of 25 Hz for 1 mobile beacon will result in update rate of 25 Hz/2 for 2 mobile beacons, and 25 Hz/3 – for 3 mobile beacons, etc. – TDMA approach
- Depends on the radio interface profile (500 kbps vs. 38 kbps)
Inverse Architecture:
- 0.05–25 Hz. With IMU fusion enabled – up to 100 Hz
- Can be set manually or in automatic mode
- Depends on the distance between the mobile and stationary beacons (shorter distance — higher update rate)
- Doesn’t depend on the number of mobile beacons – all of them are receiving
- Depends on the radio interface profile (500 kbps vs. 38 kbps)
Power supply and battery lifetime
Internal:
- LiPol battery 750 mAh
- Battery lifetime totally depends on usage
- Stationary beacon with 8 Hz update rate => up to 30 h
- Stationary beacon with 1 Hz update rate => 1 week
- Future power saving features may increase battery life to 1 year and more
External:
- microUSB – recommended for permanent use
Weight
- 25 g (board + battery + plastic housing)
- 9 g (board only)
