The Motoron M2h18v18 Dual High-Power Motor Controller for Raspberry Pi (No Connectors or Standoffs) is a sophisticated device designed to manage DC motors via a Raspberry Pi (Model B+ or newer) through an I²C interface. It is capable of supporting motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5 to 30 V and can consistently deliver output currents up to 18 A for each motor. This particular version is solely the motor controller, devoid of any connectors or mounting hardware.

The M2H series of dual high-power motor controller add-on boards simplifies the process of controlling up to two bidirectional, brushed DC motors with a compatible Raspberry Pi (Model B+ or newer). The M2H controllers are engineered to stack on top of a Raspberry Pi (Model B+ or newer), akin to a HAT (Hardware Attached on Top), and multiple controllers can be stacked on top of each other, facilitating independent control of numerous motors. The Raspberry Pi communicates with the Motoron using I²C, hence only two GPIO pins are required irrespective of the number of Motorons connected.

The M2H18v18 controller supports motor supply voltages from 6.5 to 30 V (absolute maximum, not intended for use with 24 V batteries) and can deliver continuous output currents up to 18 A per motor. The M2H18v18 can be differentiated from other M2H controllers by its smaller discrete MOSFETs and the number 150 on top of the tall silver electrolytic capacitors.

The controller is equipped with two motor control channels for independent control of up to two bidirectional brushed DC motors, reverse-voltage protection on motor power supply, logic voltage range of 3.0 to 5 V, control interface: I²C clock speed: up to 400 kHz, configurable motion parameters, current sensing, configurable hardware current limiting, command timeout feature, configurable automatic error response, motor power supply (VIN) voltage measurement, two status LEDs, motor direction indicator LEDs, and a Motoron Python library for simplified use with Python or MicroPython.

Please note that the absolute maximum voltage is not intended for use with 24 V batteries.

  • 1x Motoron M2h18v18 Dual High-Power Motor Controller for RPi (No Connectors or Standoffs)
