The Sherline Zero Adjustable Handwheel offers machinists the capability to reset the handwheel to “zero” or any desired setting during machining operations. This feature, commonly found in full-size machine tools, is now available for Sherline’s miniature machine tools. The handwheel is easily installed by releasing a single set screw, allowing for straightforward operation. By releasing the black locking nut and adjusting the red handwheel collar to “zero,” users can precisely control the feed amount without complex calculations, enhancing efficiency and reducing errors.

The handwheel is designed to replace standard 1⅝” handwheels with a 2″ adjustable version, although the larger 2½” handwheels should not be used simultaneously on the lathe leadscrew and tailstock due to potential interference. However, they are suitable for other applications. Both inch and metric versions are available to accommodate different measurement preferences. A specialized 2½” diameter handwheel is also available for the Z-axis of the mill or vertical milling column, featuring a ball thrust bearing set to alleviate stress from the vertical lifting action, a feature not present on horizontal axes.
