The Waveshare UART Fingerprint Reader is an advanced fingerprinting module designed for secondary development, offering high-speed identification and exceptional stability. This intelligent module encompasses a range of functionalities including fingerprint recording, image processing, feature extraction, template generation, and storage, as well as fingerprint matching and searching capabilities.

Equipped with a high-speed STM32F205 processor, the module employs a commercial fingerprinting algorithm for rapid identification. It features a high-accuracy optical sensor and a standard 16-pin interface, providing users the flexibility to choose between optical and semiconductor sensors. The module’s divided structure, comprising a fingerprint sensor, processing circuit, and algorithm platform, facilitates ease of development and integration.

The module is controlled via UART and supports any microcontroller unit with UART capabilities. Its open protocol allows for the free input and output of fingerprint images and feature files, making it suitable for applications such as fingerprint locks, safe deposit boxes, access control systems, personal identification, and authority management.
